Blushing On: Viva Glam Kay x Reina Rebelde

When the package for the Viva Glam Kay x Reina Rebelde collaboration landed on my doorstep, I screamed with excitement. It was clear that Kay-Lani Martinez, whom we’ve all come to know and love as @Viva_Glam_Kay, wanted to proudly showcase our Puerto Rican culture in the most prominent and beautiful way—and for that I thanked her.

I have been following Kay-Lani for quite some time, watching her grow on YouTube and Instagram, while keeping up with her life as a mom and seeing her honestly, absolutely KILLING IT. I cried for her when she bought her house in 2018, and I shed tears of joy when I became aware of her collab with Reina Rebelde.

The Viva Glam Kay x Reina Rebelde collaboration introduces us beauty lovers to two beautiful products: a bold lip color stick called Alma Desnuda and an eye definer liquid eyeliner named Bonita Bandera.

Alma Desnuda is a peachy nude lip color that feels creamy and offers a full-coverage, satin-finish. But while I love the lip color stick, I stan that cobalt blue liquid eyeliner that was birthed from this collab. “The Rebel Eye Definer Liquid in Bonita Bandera was inspired by the stunning blue waters of my beloved Puerto Rico, and the island’s most iconic song,” Kay-Lani said in a statement.

In addition to the two Viva Glam Kay products, Kay-Lani curated a “La Reina” and “La Rebelde” bundles for those us seeking to create looks with “Bonita Bandera” and “Alma Desnuda,” utilizing other Reina Rebelde products. The bundles come with a total of six products for $75.

What’s even more amazing — Kay-Lani and Reina Rebelde are donating a portion of the sales of “Alma Desnuda” and “Bonita Bandera” to the Hispanic Federation’s UNIDOS Disaster Relief & Recovery Program to Support Puerto Rico in the ongoing efforts to rebuild the island post-Hurricane Maria.

Reina Rebelde was launched in 2016 and founded by Regina Merson, a proud Mexican-American who wanted to authentically celebrate Latinas and our unique cultural duality through a line of high-quality products. The brand is all about Latina pride in your heritage, the fierceness of our spirit and the mysteriousness of Latina beauty, and it’s just some of the reasons to be completely obsessed with this brand. As the daughter to Puerto Rican and Dominican parents, I can truly appreciate Reina Rebelde and this amazing collaboration with Viva Glam Kay.

Congratulations again, Kay-Lani! I am so thrilled for you and cannot wait to see what else you bring our way. Boricuaaaa!
